About Our Pastor

Reverend Jackie H. Williams Jr. a native of Goldsboro N.C, is the eldest son of five children of Bishop Jackie and Evangelist Margaret Williams of Newark N.J. Rev. Williams went to public school and graduated from Weequahic High School. After leaving High School, Williams joined the U.S Army, during which time he received his calling into the ministry August 19, 1980 and was ordained under the leadership of his father, Bishop Jackie Williams Sr of Bethel Holy Church in Elizabeth N.J. After one year of service Rev. Williams met the love of his life, Karon D. Sherard and after 3 days of courtship they were married. God has blessed them to be still deeply in love after 37 years and they are the proud parents of eleven children, in which 10 are adopted. They have served our community by having fostered over 500 children in our community and volunteering their time to tutor children in the New Haven read program. Rev. Williams recently retired from the West Haven Veterans Medical center after 38 years of service May 31 2018. Rev Williams is a Desert Storm Veteran with the 101st Airborne Division as flight combat medic. Rev. Williams serve most of his military career in West Germany and while in West Germany Rev. Williams joined himself with the Church of God in Christ. During Williams 11 year tour in Germany, He served as the Interim Pastor of the Bad Hersfeld Church of God in Christ for four years, and later installed as Pastor for another 3 years. After serving twelve years in the U.S Army, the Lord saw fit to call Rev. Williams out of the U.S. Army and back to the United States to pursue an education in ministry. Williams received his Bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University, and his Masters of Arts degree in religion at Hartford Seminary in Hartford Connecticut. Rev Williams is presently a student at United Theological Seminary pursuing his second masters and doctorates degree. Reverend Jackie H. Williams served faithfully for 20 years as the Praise and Worship Leader and musician of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in New London, CT., where the Reverend Dr. Benjamin K. Watts is the Pastor. An exciting new chapter in Rev. Williams’s life began when he accepted the call to be the Pastor of the Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of New Haven Connecticut in October 2006. Pastor Williams has a tremendous passion for God's Word, coupled with a love for God's people. His vision is clear and uncompromising, with 3 central principles; to live Holy, Love people and build and develop a Kingdom of empowered people for God. Holding firmly to the commission mandate in Matt. 28:18-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations". Rev. Williams is committed to bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to people all over the world, literally changing the world one person at a time.
